Question:
Is there strong evidence to indicate that the authors of the books of the Bible did indeed exist?

If we could prove that the authors of the books of the Bible were real people and were responsible for transcribing God's word, would that give people more reason to believe that the Bible was divinely inspired?

Is there more evidence, say, that Homer existed than there is that the authors of the Bible existed?

(I say 'authors' of the Bible- but I believe that God actually wrote the Bible through human hands)

Well, the bible did not write itself that we know for sure because it is here. The portions of the bible were found in many different places and not all in one place. If one person wrote the bible he or she would have put it all in one place so it was easier to find and put together.

The wording used in the same through out the book which it would not be if the writers were not instructed by something or someone. The intelligence that is put into the writings is very high, so it is not logical that all these people have such a superior intelligence. It is also not logical for the same person to detail the same events over and over. The fact that many wrote the same story but in words that were alike shows that some other force was present in depicting those words.

Of course the authors of the Bible existed - I'm an atheist, and I'm pretty sure that when I read a book, someone had to have written it! These authors, however, may not have been the people whose names are given to books of the Bible, and I do not believe that these authors were influenced by a supernatural force. For example, the Book of Isaiah appears to have been written by at least two or three people. There's no reason, or need, to prove that one man, Isaiah, wrote the whole book.

If you could prove that, for example, there was a man named Isaiah who wrote all 66 chapters of the Book of Isaiah, this would have little bearing on the evidence for divine influence in its writing. You would have to provide evidence that the book was divinely inspired, and that evidence would be more important than a connection to a single author.

The dead sea scrolls were found in 1947-48 date back to the first or second christian century which actually puts verified documents with in 50 years of saint John who was the last of the apostles this is pretty close for any one who wants to believe how ever if you don't then you can always come up with an excuse not to believe and yes these writers were inspired by God may God bless and protect you

Obviously they existed because the book was written. However that is a long way away from proving the divinity of Jesus or that the bible was divinely inspired.

Obviously, the books of the Bible had to have been written by SOMEONE (and by that, I mean many someones). But it is quite likely that the original authors of the Old Testament have been lost to antiquity. Given that you can count on one hand the number of people mentioned in the Bible whose existence can be verified through independent (i.e.: non-religious) sources (Pontius Pilate, Nebuchadnezzar, Herod), and given the almost complete lack of archeological evidence supporting any of historical events mentioned in the Bible, and given that the Bible exists in multiple manuscripts (none of them original) and multiple canons (none of which completely agree on which books are "official" and which are apocryphal), and given the large number of internal contradictions contained within the Bible, it can be concluded that in its original form, it existed as a collection of unrelated writs composed in obscurity by many people with no colloboration or unifying set of beliefs to guide them.

No one disputes that the authors of the bible existed. Of course they existed, or else there would be no bible. But who were they? That is sometimes disputed because science hasn't given religious fundamentalists the answers they wanted.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness."

(2 Tim. 3:16 NASB)

All Scripture is God-breathed, given by His inspiration. The Word of God is not just a book or a compilation of man's thoughts or philosophy. God inspired holy men to write the scripture passages and He takes full responsibility for their validity.

God's Word has been given for teaching and helping people, for correcting and guiding them. The Scriptures show us how to live. Maybe we should know them better.

The Message Bible says: "Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way."

Then you'd have to admit that the Qur'an was written with Allah's hand, the Vedas through Shiva's hand(s), and so on so forth, wouldn't you?

We're pretty sure that Homer existed. Could it have been a pseudonym? Possibly. Does it matter though? No.

Someone wrote the book but there's no evidence to say who it was. There's no evidence that the book is the words of any god.

(2 Peter 1:20-21) For YOU know this first, that no prophecy of Scripture springs from any private interpretation. 21 For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit.

Tens of thousands of monks and nuns have been trying to prove this for 2000 years, and haven't come up with anything, so don't hold your breath

there is proof that the writers of the bible books existed. there is even proof that Jesus himself existed (through the census the romans took)

It's just not proven that Jesus did ANY of the stuff that is claimed and the only books that state Jesus is a normal man were omitted from the bible. (see dead sea scrolls)
