Question:
Why believe in the Bible when it can't even get a really simple fact like the shape of the Earth right?

Your Christian Bible claims, depending on where you look in the text, that the Earth has edges, corners, is a circle (which is flat), is on pillars, is on nothing, or that all of the earth can be seen from a tall tree (which is only true for a flat Earth). ***Not once*** does it say the Earth is sphere like. ***Not once*** does it say the Earth orbits the sun - in fact, it implies the sun revolves around the Earth! The Bible is so very very confused about the shape and place of the Earth. So why trust it on anything??

Isaiah 40:22 "the CIRCLE OF THE EARTH" as seen from heaven.

Job 26:7 "suspending the earth upon nothing."

Are you so "lax of brain" you cannot understand the heavens surround Earth? Wherever one looks at Earth from there, one sees a circle? When we kook at a ball, we see inly a circle too. We do not see the rear side at any time. We see, when it rotates, what was on the rear, but never both front and rear together. This is what babies learn in their first few years. Why do you conveniently forget when you try to trash the Bible?

During a time when the rest of the planet KNEW earth was flat and was held up by everything man's imagination could come up with, (columns, arches, turtles, elephants, even Atlas), the Bible spoke truth in Job that Earth was not hung nor supported by anything! This remained unsupported by visual evidence until the first satellites in space took photographs.

True, advanced mathematics showed both the sphere of the earth and free fliating in space were true, it was only relatively a few yesterdays we could all see for ourselves. YET, the Bible showed these points ACCURATELY over 3500 YEARS AGO IN PRINT.

The bible is not a text book. It does not claim to teach any science. It is a history of the Hebrew people and a record of their prophets. It is the memoirs of the Apostles regarding the life and times of Christ. It teaches religious truth, nothing more. Critiquing it because it doesn't describe the shape of the earth to your satisfaction is pointless. Might as well complain about a book on American history not mentioning the Roman empire, nor the planets in the solar system.

The Bible does not talk about the shape of the Earth. If you can find that in the Bible please get back to me. I have read the entire Bible more than once and I don't remember anything like that in the Bible.

The fact of the matter, that is why you have to compare scripture with scripture to get the whole truth, as it is written in God word the bible only Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

The people who were responsible for that part of the bible lived in the desert and had no way of knowing that the earth was not flat. People that lived on the coasts, could see ships disappear over the horizon and thus knew better.

If you assume the bible was written by desert primitives, it makes sense. It is only when one assumes the involvement of someone of greater knowledge that it becomes difficult to understand. Leave god out and it makes sense though.

Isaiah 40:22 states clearly that the earth is a circular shape. "Circle" is translated from the Hebrew word "chuwg" which describes the arch of the horizon, which only occurs in spherical shapes. The other things you mention are figures of speech that are still used today. The Bible proves ITSELF to be true.

the bible writers used figures of speech to describe what they observed from their vantage point on earth,
