Sex change debate - pros and cons, Bible?

Hey, I'm certainly FOR sex change but we're having debate tomorrow and I have to argue AGAINST it. Eventhough I'm a hardcore atheist my teacher adviced my group to pretend to be christians. The only thing I can argue about as a "christian" is that "the lord would give a person the wrong sex". So pretty much accusing the other group of accusing god. What does the Bible say that would go against sex change? What are the pros and cons? Can you give us some stuff we can argue about?

If there's something in the Bible that DOES say something that would mean that sex change wouldn't be allowed, could you give me the chapter?

My guess is he has an anti-Christian agenda to push, I'm surprised he's not giving you "what he thinks" is a winning argument.



Unless you made all this up and you're just trying to take a stab at something (Christianity, psychology, biology) you know little to nothing about.

A "sex change" is an inaccurate term. There is no such thing as a "sex change", as that would involve a complete change in a person's internal and external physical form and DNA, which we can't do. Surgery can make a man "look" like a woman, or vice versa, but the change is only superficial, it isn't real.

Sex changes are a form of sexual immorality, which is forbidden as follows:

Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Deu 23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (effeminate men would be of this type).

But remember that all sins except one(blasphemy of the Holy Spirit) can be forgiven:

A sex change (that is the surgecally removal, possibly even the adding, of genitalia, which is not an actual change of sex) is only agreeable with God is a person is a hermaphrodite and has chosen one of the two genders to live as. True sex or gender comes from the heart and mind but is normally apparent by the physical body. While doctors can change the physical body the heart and mind remains the same. To have a sex change in harmony with such a decision is a matter of choice and conscience before God, not a requirement. God does not condone living as both genders at the same time though. A person must make a choice. God does not give a person the wrong sex. Because of sin and imperfection of our genetic code and DNA some humans are born hermaphrodites. Others may have cross gender tendencies because of hormonal imbalances and other bio-physiological influences. This too is because of a erred and defective genetic code of the DNA, chromosomes and genes. Then again, some humans are influenced toward opposite gender tendencies from outside sources and internal influences, like friends of the opposite gender, association with persons who are gay, cross dressers, transsexuals and the like. Some are influenced by developing curiosity that turns into an obsessive interest in crossing over to the opposite gender.



God wants all born with somewhat normal gender physiology and feelings and thoughts to stay as they are and avoid meditating on abnormal gender related things. Self-control of heart and mind are the key. For those who are unfortunately born with a pronounced gender mix of hermaphrodism, there is a need to choose a permanent gender. They may have a sex change in harmony with their decision if they so choose.



The Bible does say that God will make all things new and perfect. In the future our genetic code of our DNA will be perfected where no one will be born a hermaphrodite or have other gender feelings, thoughts or tendencies. There will be no such thoughts of sex changes. Today, God through the Bible allows for a sex change because of being born with the sex organs of genders or if such is done because of not having one will lead to their physical death because of some bio-physiological reason. But again, such a sex change would be only for those who are hermaphrodites who have chosen to live as the gender that is in harmony with the change of sex. Other humans should learn to control their thoughts, feelings and urges by avoid watching and listening to things and people that may encourage such within them, whether deliberately or not. Also, the person should learn to control the thoughts, feelings and urges that come simply from within themselves.



In short, only hermaphrodites are allowed to have a sex change. This should be their own voluntary decision and always in harmony with the sex they have chosen to live as. They can live physically as they are or have surgery but they must live morally and sexually as one gender or the other and not both or swing back and forth. It is also allowable to them if not having one does threaten their life because of bio-physiological reasons, but the chosen sex change has to be the one that they have chosen to live as permanently before God. A sex change for any other reason would be sinful to God. :)

As far as appearance is concerned, do what makes you happy. If someone wants a sex change let them have it, who am I to decide how someone should look? In my opinion it's a odd procedure, but some people don't feel like themselves within their body and they should be able to look how they feel.

Religion is an insult to human dignity. As a product it doesn’t require any quality control. It is virtually sold at 10% of any income, AS IS! Once bought, no amount of reasoning will change anybody’s mind. With or without it we have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for any DECENT PERSON to do real evil it takes religion!
