Dear Sonya,

About 2000 years ago, God came to earth in the form of a man (Jesus). He lived physically on earth for about 30 years. He was crucified (nailed to a cross) by men who hated him. He (his body) died on the cross that same evening. He was then taken down from the cross and buried in a tomb.

On the third day after he was buried, he (his body) came back to life. After this, he was seen alive for a period of 40 days by more than 500 people. Many of these people who saw him alive went off and told other people that Jesus was alive. After 40 days, Jesus ascended up into heaven.

Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins (and mine). If you repent (turn away from sin), and commit your life to Jesus Christ, you will become one of God's children. You can then live in daily relationship with the God of the Universe, and when you die one day, you can go to heaven to live with God for ever.

For a brief explanation of how to come into relationship with the God of the Universe, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ.

Jesus is thought to have died as though he were in a criminal, in the days when he live crucification was capitol punishment. I do not believe he died on the cros and then physically rose three days later- I believe he either died or he didnt.

I do not believe eternal life has anything to do with our flesh!

I do not believe the Bible is the only account regarding Jesus' life and urge you to study many different works to decide for yourself. Check out the Gospel of Mary magdelene, Thomas, the Apocraphies, and more more more.

Jesus Christ died on the cross, his hands and feet nailed to the cross, wearing a crown of thorns that peirced his brow. Jesus the Son of God came to this earth in human form to endure humiliation, intense scorging from scorpions(many tails of a whip), witness to others and bring healing of those who are sick and blind. He taught that there is a better life in Him. He taught that there is a God of Love that wants us to all believe in him so that we may have everlasting life with him(after death also). He took all the pain and all the sins and all the humiliations(doubt he was humiliated) to the cross for you! and for the sake of mankind! He died on the cross so that we may have life in Him! So if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and he is Lord and you confess that to him and confess that He died for your sins and you're forgiven, then you are rewarded an eternal life. No matter how bad of a person one may be. God is so merciful He would even bring salvation to Adolf Hitler if he confessed and surrendered it all to God at the point of death. (Not saying he did but if he did then he's saved). Then on the third day he died, he rose again.

John 3:16 says "God so loved the world that He sent His own begotten son to die for our sins"

To those of you who think Jesus Christ isn't real and it's just a myth, you're wrong because it's recorded in history. Take a history class.

Jesus is not a fairy tale. If Jesus/God wasn't there then why is there a devil? Jesus died on the cross to purify us from the evil in this world. He rose again. I guess he just vanished-never really looked it up in the bible. Well he went to heavan and will come back again to judge from the living to the dead. EXTRA: as you will look at the rainbow after the rain, the bible says that, that is a promise from God that he will never punish us with a flood like(Noah's Ark story)

Jesus? Dying?

What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?

(NOT A VIRGIN BIRTH! - betcha)

Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Gods do not die? Do they?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us? Big deal!

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

If you swallow this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to swallow it too.

They want everyone to convert to their non-thinking.

Jesus died at Calvary for the remission of our sins. He died from being beaten, nailed to a cross and a ruptured heart. Man kind had fallen from grace and to redeem us ,God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus to pay the ultimate sacrifice for us.

The word describes the setting “at one” of those who have been estranged, and denotes the reconciliation of man to God. Sin is the cause of the estrangement, and therefore the purpose of atonement is to correct or overcome the consequences of sin. From the time of Adam to the death of Jesus Christ, true believers were instructed to offer animal sacrifices to the Lord. These sacrifices were symbolic of the forthcoming death of Jesus Christ, and were done by faith in him (Moses 5: 5-8).

Jesus Christ, as the Only Begotten Son of God and the only sinless person to live on this earth, was the only one capable of making an atonement for mankind. By his selection and foreordination in the Grand Council before the world was formed, his divine Sonship, his sinless life, the shedding of his blood in the garden of Gethsemane, his death on the cross and subsequent bodily resurrection from the grave, he made a perfect atonement for all mankind. All are covered unconditionally as pertaining to the fall of Adam. Hence, all shall rise from the dead with immortal bodies, because of Jesus’ atonement. “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Cor. 15: 22), and all little children are innocent at birth. The atonement is conditional, however, so far as each person’s individual sins are concerned, and touches every one to the degree that he has faith in Jesus Christ, repents of his sins, and obeys the gospel. The services of the Day of Atonement foreshadowed the atoning work of Christ (Lev. 4; Lev. 23: 26-32; Heb. 9). The scriptures point out that no law, ordinance, or sacrifice would be satisfactory if it were not for the atonement of Jesus Christ (Heb. 10: 1-9; 2 Ne. 9: 5-24; Mosiah 13: 27-32).

Sin is lawlessness (1 Jn. 3: 4); it is a refusal on men’s part to submit to the law of God (Rom. 8: 7). By transgression man loses control over his own will and becomes the slave of sin (Rom. 7: 14), and so incurs the penalty of spiritual death, which is alienation from God (Rom. 6: 23). The atonement of Jesus Christ redeems all mankind from the fall of Adam and causes all to be answerable for their own manner of life. This means of atonement is provided by the Father (John 3: 16-17), and is offered in the life and person of his Son, Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5: 19).

Jesus was crucified on a cross after being whipped. This entails having one's hands and feet either tied or nailed to a cross and then hanging until one dies. Jesus probably suffocated after being on the cross for several hours. His body literally and figuratively "gave out". Crucifixion is a very harsh form of death in someone who has not whipped or scourged.

Jesus died for the sins of mankind. He literally became the blood sacrifice for your sins and mine. The blood sacrifice was Jewish tradition mandated by God prior to the death of Jesus. Upon his death and resurrection Jesus became that ultimate sacrifice and intercessor to God for those believe in him. This is a huge gift make no mistake and what is the cost of this huge gift nothing except your belief in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, the praying and truly asking for forgiveness of your sins, and then living your life in a manner to avoid sin.

After Jesus died the scriptures state that he went to "Sheol". It is unknown where this is, but many feel it was "Hell". Three days later Jesus broke the bonds of death and arose from the dead. As many as 5000 people saw him after his resurrection and before his ascension into heaven.

The Bible discusses all of these aspetcts of Jesus's life and more. It will become your guide as to how to live your life. I would advise that you read it. It has many stories, much advice, and some very haunting predictions. It will probably give you as many questions as it does answers. But it is definitely a series of books worth reading. They can truly become a guide for your life.

I would invite you to ask Jesus Christ into your life. I would also invite to speak with a local minister about this choice. They can guide you in your decision and help you along the way. God bless you and guide you in your choice.

Jesus died a horrible death. First He was beaten. Then he was made to carry His cross to Calvary. He was nailed to the cross and there He died. They mocked Him for saying He was King of the Jews. They were afraid of Him. He came to earth in human form for the express purpose of dieing for our sins so that we can spend eternity in heaven. Every drop of His precious blood that was shed on that day was for our sins. We are washed clean by His blood. He died because He loves us all so much (you included) that He wants us to spend eternity in heaven with Him.

He died in Jerusalem on a hill that the experts believe to be is Skull Hill. Jesus died because He allowed himself to die. He gave His spirit to the Father ("Into Your hands I committ my spirit" and then He breathed His last). Nothing actually killed Him. He died to take our place. For example, say you are on trial for a crime. The judge wants to put you to death but Christ tells the judge to take His life and let you free. Christ died so that we don't have to die spiritually and spend an eternity away from God.

I think that its time for all to be concious, and not percial, wakeup to question any information and not accepting things as they are said , Jesus came to live with us and not to die for us, he was so0 happy being with us ,, he did nothing wrong the only clean being, but because of our own selfishness,, he went to the temple and said this is my father's house its not a market place and there the church planed for his death,, false statement against him and we end up killing HIM AND LATER WE REALISED THAT we had done wrong , and we decided to say anyway he came to die and also we say he will come again,,,, He will never come he knows that even if we we we will do the same ,,, why cant we stop lieing to ourself face the truth,,, I believe we have to be praying each time for the sin we commited against HIM

how?

he died from being beaten to death then hung on a cross with a crown of thorns on his head.

why?

for your sins, God's punishment for sin (which we all are sinners) is death. yet God loved us, even though we were sinners, so much that he sent Jesus, his only begotten son to die as a sacrifice for our sins, so that we could actually live in heaven one day.

Where?

on a hill called Calvary, it's in Israel, later he was buried in a borrowed tomb. but here is the BEST news, he isn't dead anymore! he arose again on the 3rd day, just like he said he would!

How?

it was proof that he was who he said he was, the son of God!

What does that have to do with me and you?

well, his blood was sprinkled on the mercy seat of God (for a sacrifice) so that we would never know what eternal death is! once we have accepted Jesus' free gift of salvation, we are in! the reservation has been set! we are on our way!

Joh:19:1: Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

Joh:19:2: And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

Joh:19:3: And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

Joh:19:4: Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

Joh:19:5: Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

Joh:19:6: When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

Joh:19:7: The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.Joh:3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh:3:17: For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Joh:3:18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Joh 10:17 - 18Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

The cross and the empty tomb. What do they mean? Why are they so significant to us today?

The Cross

In the 1800's Ralph E. Hudson wrote the chorus to the sacred hymn "At the Cross." He wrote "At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, and the burden of my heart rolled away. It was there by faith I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day!"

It is at the cross that we realize how much God loves us. God's Word, the Bible says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 NIV) God showed us at the cross how much He loves us. He sent Jesus, His son to earth to die on a cross for us. Jesus was born to die. Jesus was born to die so that we can have eternal life!

Beloved, we have done nothing to deserve such love. We can do nothing to earn such love. It's an unconditional love that God has poured out on us. He loves us and accepts us "as is." "While we sere still sinners," Jesus died for us. He could have called ten thousand angels to His rescue and escaped the cross, but God's love for us kept Him fastened to the cross. It wasn't the nails that kept Him there. It was God's love for you.

It's at the cross of Christ that we experience forgiveness of sins. Our sins are what placed Jesus on the cross yet we hear Him say from the cross "Father forgive them." Every sin that we have ever committed is what nailed Jesus to the cross and He died for the forgiveness of sins. We are no more innocent than the crowd that shouted "crucify Him." We are no more innocent than the ones who condemned Him to death. We are no more innocent than the Roman Soldiers who beat Him. But yet we are forgiven.

It's at the cross we are justified. The Word of God says "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" (Romans 5:9 NIV) God's Word declares "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (Romans 3:23 NIV). "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23 NIV)

Beloved, we all have sinned and we all deserve the penalty of sin which is death. But God who is full of love, mercy and grace sent Jesus. Jesus bore on the cross every sin we have committed and He took our punishment for us. Jesus shed His blood to justify us. It's only by the blood of Christ that we are justified. Being justified does not mean we are not guilty. We are guilty, but by the blood of Christ we are declared blameless by a just God and there is no death penalty! Praise be to God! We are justified through the blood of the Lamb!

It's at the cross we are reconciled to God. As sinners we deserve God's wrath, but God reconciles us to Himself through Jesus and what He did for us at the cross. It's at the cross where God draws us to Him. At the cross God loves us. At the cross God forgives us. At the cross God justifies us. At the cross God draws us close to Him. We are reconciled to God through Jesus! Thank God for the Cross! We must constantly spend time at the cross. We must visit the cross daily.

George Bennard wrote the hymn "The Old Rugged Cross." Listen to the words of the chorus: "So I'll cherish the old rugged cross. Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown." Beloved on your journey from earth to glory, cling to the cross of Christ. As you do, God will draw you close to Him.

The empty tomb

As we spend time at the cross and visit it daily, we go a little further and we peer into the empty tomb. Praise God the tomb is empty! Death could not hold it's prey! Up from the grave He arose! Jesus is alive and we serve the risen Lord!

We are saved through Jesus' life. God's Word says "For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" (Romans 5:10 NIV) Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." (John 11:25-26 NIV) The empty tomb points to the resurrection of our body! Praise God, we get new bodies that are incorruptible and imperishable.

The Christian Post published an article on April 13, 2006 titled "Most Americans Reject Resurrection of the Body." The article stated that a survey was done by the Cripps Survey Research Center at Ohio University. They asked the question "Do you believe that, after you die, your physical body will be resurrected someday?" The results: 36% replied "yes"; 54% said "no"; and 10% was undecided.

What does God say? God's Word is the only absolute truth we have to base our decision on.

Jesus said "And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:39-40 NIV)

The apostle Paul said "I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:50-58 NIV)

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 NIV)

Beloved, according to God's Word, we will be resurrected out of here. Those that have died in the faith will get their new bodies first. Than we that are alive will get new glorified bodies. Ones that don't grow old. Ones that don't wear out. Ones that don't forget. Ones that don't get sick. Ones that don't have to have surgery. Ones that we don't have to exercise to keep them in shape. Glorified bodies! Christ like bodies!

I believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and I believe that it points to every believer's resurrection that is to come. Hallelujah! Because the tomb is empty, your redemption draws near! The trumpet could blow today and you could be airlifted out of this world! Be encouraged with these words beloved!

I have prayed for you today.

Know that you are loved!
