what does moderate muslims mean ?

we constantly told that most muslims are moderate as opposed to extremist, but what is moderate ?do moderate muslims for instance tolerate there children marriage to non muslims , like jews , christians, Buddhist or atheist,, does moderate mean they tolerate non belief of islam by friends or family members, or being members of nudist clubs etc, I doubt it, i think there is no such thing as a moderate muslim

I take it to mean one who has recognized the difficult position of orthodox Muslims, as far as both historical credibility and justice are concerned, and has discarded some of the most offensive tenets of their religion, but without having yet applied this standard to the more refined teachings, still refers to him/herself as a Muslim, though moderate, so as to be separate from the orthodox.

Moderate meaning that unless you do something that draws their attention to you (such as drawing a cartoon) they will not try to kill you. This is different from extremism because extremists are willing to stick their noses into other peoples business and fly planes into buildings if they don't like what they see.

Unfortunately, many moderate Muslims tolerate and even encourage extreme Muslims. Few will actively try to suppress the extremists; but fortunately a few do.

Well,that depends on your definition of "moderate".

I think that moderate muslims are those who renounce some extremist teachings of their religion and encourage positive teachings of their religion..Let me tell you something,even an orthodox Christian wouldn't allow his/her children to join a nudist club..But that doesn't necessarily mean that they are extremists..People of different cultures view things differently.Its just how the way it is.Even a Christian living in Iraq or Pakistan cannot allow his/her child to join a nudist club.A Jew will beat his/her child even at the mere mention of nudist club.

I think that Egypt,Pakistan,Bangladesh and U.A.E have good number of modest muslims.I can only tell you about Pakistan,and the media,politics,and cities like Karachi,Lahore and Islamabad have good amount of modest PEOPLE living and working in them..

Someone who doesn't know much about the Quran. "Moderate muslims" are ignorant of the Islamic teachings, they're more peaceful and normal people. If they realize how absurd and barbaric Islam is, they would probably renounce their faith.



"Moderate Muslims" believe whatever they're taught. Never bother to study Islam. But they support anything a supposed "mullah" or some holy person says. They do NOT tolerate their children marrying into some other religion (unless that person converts to Islam). They do NOT tolerate family members who disbelieve but won't go as far as killing them like "extremists". They hate jews and homosexuals even if they've never met one. They do not understand some actions taken by "extremist Muslims" and think they're just "crazy" and "not true Muslims".

Islam is in itself a Moderate religion, it doesn't allow extremist. Be kind and forgiving... give mankind the right to live in peace and harmony, it is a religion of science and humanity, honesty, integrity, sincerity, forgiveness, equality, and rational and developed thinking

It is a religion that urges for research and development and innovation in various fields of science.. for the invasion of space and sea. it is a religion that urges a Muslim to learn and teach, get educated and create and innovate.. so extremists are not practicing Islam, but use it to justify their actions, they follow their interests in the name of Islam.

actually there are plenty of muslims who would tolerate the things you mentioned....there are plenty who would not partake but wouldnt have anything against the people who do. And theres also a long distance between that and suicide bombers, and many muslims fall into that area as well.

It means they themselves aren't strapping bombs to their chests. I think that's about it. They may very well shelter a terrorist or send money to terrorists but they themselves are not blowing themselves up or hijacking hotels or whatever.



Find me a Muslim who thinks the Koran is "sorta a decent book with some good stuff in it but you can't take it too seriously" and you'll have your 'moderate Muslim'. Lots of 'moderate Christians' running around. Christians who think the entire OT should be ignored. Christians who think the Bible is all allegory and morality stories but not to be taken literally at all. I think those people shouldn't call themselves Christians but hey, at least their way of 'following' the Bible doesn't make them assholes. Unfortunately their political affiliation and the brain-dead acceptance of Islam as 'peaceful' does make them assholes.

moderate muslim mean, we still can find coptic, druze, phalank, jews, roman, orthodox, in muslim countries... in india muslim didnt eat cow, and hindu didnt eat pork..that moderate... can you find moderate christian in middle ages?
