Pray to what ever you want, it will be heard and will be answered. But, stay away form religions, all they teach and give you is nothing, and all they want from you is everything.

If you knew what the real meaning of Jesus, Maria, Joseph, and all other metaphors of the Holly Scriptures are, you would cry and stop praying to those, since all of them are parts of your own body.

Your, holly assembly of the aged, your brain, is the gate to communicate with the godly matrix, the big brain of the universe. Ask your questions in mind, repeat them often and you will get an answer. sooner or later, but you will.

The Church has long held that intercession by the saints is helpful, so no, praying to Mary and the other saints is recommended. Just search "communion of saints." It is their intercession that we are seeking. Read the Apostle's Creed. Both the Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed were put into practice to combat heretics. The Creeds mean nothing to a Fundy, they typically don't even read them.

Ask a Fundy what "communion of the saints" means. They typically won't know offhand. They'll have to go ask their preacher and get back to you. Yet, they say they only follow the bible. No, they follow whatever their particular preacher says. A preacher that's typically never been educated in the faith. Go to 10 different Fundy churches and you will get 10 different answers. Sure, they will all say "only the Bible," yet each individual interpretation is different. That's a problem.

Yet the Creeds are there for a reason. To remind us what Christian core doctrine is. Our fundamental faith is our Creed. True fundamentalist faith is a Catholic one. To not follow the Creed is to be a Fundy cult.

When Catholics pray to Mary it's with the understanding that she has no power of her own - that all she has comes from her son, Jesus Christ. We understand that God does His will through His Body - the Church (1 Cor. 12). Those in heaven are alive - they have eternal life because of Jesus Christ. and so they are still part of the Body of Christ, still part of the Church. The bible tells believers that they are to help and pray for others. So asking Mary for help and prayers is just asking her to do what Jesus has already taught us all to do. So no - it's not wring to pray to Mary.

Catholics worship God alone.

Prayer on the behalf of others is throughout the bible.

As Christians we are all co-heirs with Jesus and and part of his body we are all co-redeemers and co-mediators.

Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

1Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it

2Thess 2:14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ

Acts 8:24 And Simon answered, "Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."

1Timothy 2:1 I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men:

The Saints are Alive.

Mark 12:27

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err.

The bible tells us the Prayer of a Righteous person does much. Who more Righteous than the Mother of God and the Saints?

Proverbs 15:29

The Lord is far from the wicked: and he will hear the prayers of the just.

James 5:16

Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.

Revelations 8:4 And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel.

No, praying to Mary and the other Saints is not wrong.

Worshiping them...now that IS wrong.

But prayer and worship are not the same thing, something that some Protestants confuse. To pray means "to ask", not "to worship" and so in prayer, we are petitioning our family (the Communion of Saints) to pray on our behalf to God. To take our petitions to God and pray with us.

God states that He is jealous of His people worshiping others, not of us asking others,so He is not jealous of the Saints.

In fact, we know from the Bible that God is PLEASED by our petitions, supplications and intercessions--we see this in 1 Tim 2:1-4.

Yes, Christ IS the only Mediator--between Man and God. He is the only one who can restore the relationship between God and Man and the only one who was able to bridge the gab between God and Man, something that He perpetually does (meaning forever).

But asking the Saints (which includes Mary) to pray for us, is not bypassing Christ or replacing Christ, nor does it undermine His Mediatorship.

Here is how it looks:

Christian prays to God:

Christian prays--> Jesus (Mediator)--> God the Father

Christian asks friend:

Christian prays + friend prays--> Jesus (Mediator)--> God the Father

Christian asks Saint:

Christian prays + Saint prays--> Jesus (Mediator)--> God the Father

The Saints prayers are more efficacious than our family and friends on earth because they are no longer held down by sin, sin no longer bogs their prayers ("the prayers of the righteous are very powerful indeed").

Asking our family (in Heaven or on Earth) is pleasing to God and in no way wrong, it is a shame that so many Christians have cut off such a wonderful part of their family--the Saints.

We don't PRAY to her, we ask her to pray for US. It's like when you have a need and you ask friends and family to pray for you. We do the same, except we ask friends, family AND people in heaven. In the bible it says that the prayers of the righteous are powerful. So who could be more righteous than those in heaven! PRAYING to Mary or anyone is wrong because we only pray to God. When someone says they pray to her, they are usually getting praying and "communication" to her confused. We never ask her to forgive us or anything like that.

"I don't think Satan and his fellow demons can bless or heal a person"

Uhm...these people are not praying before a shrine of Satan. They are praying before a shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary: THE MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!

God Abides By His Own Commandments: Honour Thy Father & Thy Mother. Therefore, when Mary intercedes with God, He Abides by her requests on her Children's behalf.

It's right to pray to Mary because she is God's mother and she brings our requests to God, just like she did at the wedding of Cana in the Gospel. Jesus loves Mary and He loves when people honor her.

About answered prayers, sometimes God answers prayers the way we want and sometimes He knows that something else is best for us- so we don't get exactly what we prayed for, but something better.

http://bing.search.sympatico.ca/?q=Infant%20Jesus%20of%20Prague&mkt=en-ca&setLang=en-CA

A] The holy Infant of Prague is a miraculous Baby Jesus thru His Mother Mary. While in Egypt fleeing from Herod, St Mary was the dispenser of grace and healing in behalf of her Son. Link: Infancy gospel

B] St James of Compostela: St Mary while alive, visited him at the river Ebro and helped the saints mission in spain. Our Lady of Pilar is still at the Cathedral of Zaragoza, the church spared from bombing by the Nazi thru Mary. The hole at the roof which the bomb passed thru could still be seen nowadays.

C] The Black Madonna of Poland: very miraculous and spared Cracow and Warsaw from WW2 bombings.

D] "Do whatever he tells you." First miracle of Jesus

Mary did NOT tell Jesus what to do! Mary put her Faith and her Trust in Jesus that Jesus would answer her concern (prayer). When we pray to God, we should NOT be dictating to God what we want God to do for us! Like Mary we should petition the Lord with prayer, to Trust that we are safely in God’s Hands, and have Patience, Faith, and Trust in God to answer our prayers.

We pray to St Mary since day 1, the co-redeemer of Christ. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Theotokos_Iverskaya.jpg

Notice the direction of her hand showing the Way, Jesus.

She paved the way for our salvation when she Yes to the Lord. She's the no. 1 saint; she travels global from Tokyo down to Egypt to deliver Christ's message. Thus we pray the Holy Rosary for world peace thru Mary.

Praying to Mary is not wrong and has never been wrong. She is Mary, the Mother of God. She conceived Jesus after the Holy Spirit, sent by God the Father, came upon her. People pray to her BECAUSE she is the Mother of God.

Think about it. Who do most people love more than any other person on earth? Their Mother! Who do most people go to for help, advice, support etc? Their Mother! Who is one of the most influential people in a person's life? Their Mother! Put all this together and you can recognize a pattern. Mary helps us because we are her children through her Son, Jesus Christ. If we ask for her help, it is like asking for our own mother's help. At the same time, she is Jesus' Mother. If she asks Jesus for his help for us, then how can Jesus resist helping us? If your mother asked you to do something and you love her very dearly and very deeply, aren't you going to respond with a "Yes, I'll do it for your mom!"? That is why Mary is called the Great Intercessor and that is why you see people go in and out of the Shrine asking for and receiving favors from her.

By praying to Mary we are recognizing that she is an important person in Jesus' life. We are not praying to Mary instead of praying to God and Jesus. We are praying to God and Jesus THROUGH Mary. We are not worshipping her as a god, but simply making use of her as an important person in Jesus' life who can help us.

Praying or worshiping anyone or thing is the worst , You only pray and worship to God.

Documentation is in Rev. 22 verse 8 i will paraphrase it John after the angle had spoken and showed him what would happen at the end time he fell down to worship the angle and the angle said John get up from there no one worships any one but to God I am a servent like you. it is a huge offense to God,

Mary was only a chosen one to birth Christ , Ephesians 1 v. 4 we were chosen before the foundation of the world. I'm paraphrasing it . Each and everyone of us was given a task to do and that was Marys task .

No, it is not wrong.

Prayer, by definition, means to make a request. It can be a way to worship, but all prayer is NOT worship, in and of itself.

Many non-Catholics, believe that all prayer is worship, or that we can only pray to God. This perspective comes from their experience. Since they are raised only praying to God, they "assume" that all prayer must be directed to God. However, Catholics (and all of Christianity for over 1500 years) have always asked others on earth and beyond, to pray for us.

Those who have died in Christ, are still one with us. We are united as one Body. They can pray for us, and do pray for us. We can ask all of our brothers and sisters in Christ to pray for us, those here on earth and those who have left this earth but are alive in Christ.

Many non-Catholics misunderstand intercessory prayer. They assume that if we pray to Mary we don't pray to God. This is not true. We do pray to God always. We are not required to pray to any of the saints. But in addition, many of us pray to Mary or the saints, and ask them to add their prayers to ours. The Bible says that intercessory prayer is pleasing to God.

Mary and others can only intercede for us by God's grace. It is God who answers prayers. If your friend prays for you and God blesses you, is the prayer answered by God or your friend? By God of course. Does asking your friend to pray for you infringe on the mediatorship of Christ? Of course not.

We can and should ask all Christians to pray for us, those here and those who have gone before us.

It is no more or less effective than praying to a god, or asking living people to pray to a god for you. Meaning there's no effect whatsoever. If people want healing, they should go to a doctor rather than playing pretend while their illness gets worse.

People returning doesn't mean their prayers were answered. It more likely means they made excuses for when they weren't answered, or pretended they were. It's called confirmation bias.

Praying to Mary is wrong. It's just as much idolatry as praying to Buddha, Allah, or any other fake god/idol. The only true God is Jesus, a perfect, triune, eternal, uncreated being.

Praying to Mary is making Mary an idol, and that is wrong, as shown in the 10 commandments.

Exodus 20:

3 “You shall have no other gods [b]before Me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself [c]an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

praying to Mary is wasted effort. my bible says we should pray to GOD through Christ. praying to Mary is as useless as it is to pray to some "saint". so much of the rituals of Catholicism is not authorized by the bible. but is a hold over from ancient religious practises.a Pope is totally incorrect. Christ is the only one between us and GOD. the bible is very clear that saints are the people that have accepted Christ as their own personal savior. these are "the church" that the bible talks about. the true interpretation of the word " church" means "the called out ones". the people that have accepted Christ are "the church" !!!!!---not a building, not a denomination ; but born again believers.. nuns are going to be the most shocked people around. Christ pointed out time and again that Mary held no special significance. he made it clear as he hung on the cross that Mary was just another woman. he addressed her as "WOMAN" ----not holy Mary, not blessed Mary----not even mother----just plain woman to show she held no religious significance.. there is only the father. the son and the holy spirit------the trinity !!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all it is disingenuous to state that the practice of praying for each other has no biblical foundation, we are instructed in Scripture to have a prayer life for others as it is part of God’s commandment to love one another.

(2Co 5:8 DRB) But we are confident and have a good will to be absent rather from the body and to be present with the Lord.

The Catholic Church does not teach that it is absolutely necessary for one to ask for the intercession of saints for salvation. The Church does teach that prayer to God is necessary for salvation for all believers. For a Catholic it would be wrong to ignore the liturgical worship offered to God at feast days for the saints and the prayers asking for their intercession.

No, of course not. The Communion of Saints is a dogma of the ancient Church and is recorded in the apostles Creed. It simply states that the faithful because of their relationship with Christ are alive even after the death of their flesh and worship with us. To us the Church is made up of the Church militant who represents all those believers living out their hope in the flesh.

(Phi 2:12 DRB) Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but much more now in my absence) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.

(Phi 2:13 DRB) For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to accomplish, according to his good will.

It consists of the Church Suffering who are those who are temporarily in need of further purgation from sin so that they may enjoy the presence of God.

(2Ma 12:46 DRB) It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.

Lastly, the Communion of the Saints consists of those who have won the race:

(Phi 3:14 DRB) I press towards the mark, to the prize of the supernal vocation of God in Christ Jesus.

Their immortal souls are in heaven in God’s presence:

(Rev 5:8 DRB) And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

The universal stream connecting all of God’s creation is His love, which we take on in our baptism into our journey towards sanctification. This is not an emotional but a desire placed in us by the Spirit of God that endures as a desire for those other than ourselves and this love extends even to our enemies. This is truly a love that comes only from God and is a foreign concept and nonsense to those who have not received God’s salvific grace. This desire within our souls does not end with the death of our flesh but continues into eternity where the saints through their intercession in prayer encourage us in our race and assist us to endure unto our union with God.

I think that some people of faith, who do not understand the Communion of Saints, somehow believe that asking saints to pray for us is detracting from our love or our trust in God. In truth it is impossible, if we truly love as God commands and has given us the grace to understand, not to pray to those whom we love and in turn we expect them to return that same love to us by praying for us and presenting our prayers to God.

In Christ

"Is prayer to saints / Mary biblical?"

Answer: The issue of Catholics praying to saints is one that is full of confusion. It is the official position of the Roman Catholic Church that Catholics do not pray TO saints or Mary, but rather that Catholics can ask saints or Mary to pray FOR them. The official position of the Roman Catholic Church is that asking saints for their prayers is no different than asking someone here on earth to pray for us. However, the practice of many Catholics diverges from official Roman Catholic teaching. Many Catholics do in fact pray directly to saints and/or Mary, asking them for help – instead of asking the saints and/or Mary to intercede with God for help. Whatever the case, whether a saint or Mary is being prayed to, or asked to pray, neither practice has any biblical basis.

The Bible nowhere instructs believers in Christ to pray to anyone other than God. The Bible nowhere encourages, or even mentions, believers asking individuals in heaven for their prayers. Why, then, do many Catholics pray to Mary and/or the saints, or request their prayers? Catholics view Mary and the saints as "intercessors" before God. They believe that a saint, who is glorified in Heaven, has more "direct access" to God than we do. Therefore, if a saint delivers a prayer to God, it is more effective than us praying to God directly. This concept is blatantly unbiblical. Hebrews 4:16 tells us that we, believers here on earth, can "approach the throne of grace with confidence."

First Timothy 2:5 declares, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." There is no one else that can mediate with God for us. If Jesus is the ONLY mediator, that indicates Mary and the saints cannot be mediators. They cannot mediate our prayer requests to God. Further, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ Himself is interceding for us before the Father: "Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them" (Hebrews 7:25). With Jesus Himself interceding for us, why would we need Mary or the saints to intercede for us? Whom would God listen to more closely than His Son? Romans 8:26-27 describes the Holy Spirit interceding for us. With the 2nd and 3rd members of the Trinity already interceding for us before the Father in heaven, what possible need could there be to have Mary or the saints interceding for us?

Catholics argue that praying to Mary and the saints is no different than asking someone here on earth to pray for us. Let us examine that claim. (1) The Apostle Paul asks other Christians to pray for him in Ephesians 6:19. Many Scriptures describe believers praying for one another (2 Corinthians 1:11; Ephesians 1:16; Philippians 1:19; 2 Timothy 1:3). The Bible nowhere mentions anyone asking for someone in heaven to pray for him. The Bible nowhere describes anyone in heaven praying for anyone on earth. (2) The Bible gives absolutely no indication that Mary or the saints can hear our prayers. Mary and the saints are not omniscient. Even glorified in heaven, they are still finite beings with limitations. How could they possibly hear the prayers of millions of people? Whenever the Bible mentions praying to or speaking with the dead, it is in the context of sorcery, witchcraft, necromancy, and divination—activities the Bible strongly condemns (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). In the one instance when a "saint" is spoken to, Samuel in 1 Samuel 28:7-19, Samuel is not exactly happy to be disturbed. It is clear that praying to Mary or the saints is completely different from asking someone here on earth to pray for us. One has a strong biblical basis; the other has no biblical basis whatsoever.

God does not answer prayers based on who is praying. God answers prayers based on whether they are asked according to His will (1 John 5:14-15). There is absolutely no basis or need to pray to anyone other than God alone. There is no basis for asking those who are in heaven to pray for us. Only God can hear our prayers. Only God can answer our prayers. No one in heaven has any greater access to God's throne than we do through prayer (Hebrews 4:16).
