Seventh Day Adventists use, I believe, the King James Version.

Mormons use the King James Version, but also have a *new* (not edited) holy book - the Book of Mormon.

Jehovah's Witnesses have their own translation of the Bible - the New World Translation. It is claimed by JW critics that it is "heavily edited," or something like that. But it's really just a unique translation. Any translation, like the NIV, NASB, NAB - even the KJV itself! - can be accused of being "edited" by critics.

Jehovah's Witnesses continue to use many different Bible translations, and are not stuck on the NWT like many claim.

Mormons use the standard King James Version, but they include the best topical guide in the world. Fully one third of the Bible, is the topical guide. The footnotes are extensive. Yes, the JST (Joseph Smith Translation) is quoted in the footnotes, when they differ from the KJV. The idea behind the JST was to restore the scriptures back to the original through revelation from God.

Jehovah's Witnesses use their own "New World Translation". I don't think the Mormons have their own version and I know the Seventh-Day Adventists don't. Mormons have another book called the Book of Mormon, which they consider to be extra scripture that goes along with the Bible. Adventists have the writings of Ellen White, but they do not consider any of her books to be scripture, they believe that only the Bible is the word of God.

Hi

I don't know about the SDA. The JW's do have their own version of the Bible, called the New World Translation. It has been altered to fit the beliefs of the Watchtower. Compare any mainstream translation with the NWT - especially verses dealing with who Jesus is - and you'll see this for yourself. It's telling that only the JW's use the NWT... That alone should be enough to make anyone suspicious of this "translation".

Mormons use the King James Bible, but only as much as they believe it is correctly translated. They read it through the "lens" of "latter day scripture" and what their church teaches. If the Bible and their Church disagree the Bible loses!

My suggestion is to use a Bible that is widely in use by different Churches. Try the New Living Translation, the New International Version or the New Revised Standard Version. Or, if you have never read the Bible, try The Message which is perhaps the easiest one of all to read. Start with John's gospel followed by Romans and Galatians.

Hope this helps

On what is the “New World Translation” based?

As a basis for translating the Hebrew Scriptures, the text of Rudolf Kittel’s Biblia Hebraica, editions of 1951-1955, was used. The 1984 revision of the New World Translation benefited from updating in harmony with the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia of 1977. Additionally, the Dead Sea Scrolls and numerous early translations into other languages were consulted. For the Christian Greek Scriptures, the master Greek text of 1881 as prepared by Westcott and Hort was used primarily, but several other master texts were consulted as well as numerous early versions in other languages.

By the way, aren't all Bibles edited in some way in order for people of other languages to understand?

some sects use dubious translations, specially-worded to conform with their doctrine (if that’s what you mean) – the Jehovah’s Witnesses especially, to make divinity of Jesus vague, and other things – would call them a cult, compared to real Christian group -- & their ‘Bible’ more-or-less counterfeit compared to Protestants & Catholics.

funny I thought it was Your Institutions idea to "unite" LOL....

The aim of the pope is to unify the Christian world under the leadership of the papacy by the end of this century. He has made more than 40 world trips to lay the ground work for this goal. Gene H. Hogberg, The Plain Truth, November/December 1989, pp. 24, 25.

The papacy, which formerly referred to Protestants as "heretics," is now calling them "separated brethren" and graciously suggesting that all work and pray together for peace and God's presence. Millions of Protestants are deeply impressed. In fact, several Protestant denominations have had official dialog with the papacy to try to settle the differences that caused the Reformation

and speaking honestly with regards to "your' institution, what say you about this, in their own words?

"You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we [Catholics] never sanctify." --James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers, 16th edition, 1880, p. 111.

Since Jesus Christ lived in the flesh and was "tempted like as we are" (Hebrews 4:15), we have a God who can understand and who desires to be merciful to us. Hebrews 4:16 tells us we can "come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy." We may approach God directly through Jesus Christ, without an intermediary; and trusting in His mercy, we may "boldly" come to Him in Jesus' name (John 14:14). 1 Timothy 2:5 reads: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

The Bible defines blasphemy as man claiming to forgive sins (Luke 5:21) and claiming to be God (John 10:33). The papacy boldly claims the power to forgive sins. Notice the following section from a Catholic catechism: "Does the Priest truly forgive the sins, or does he only declare that they are remitted? The Priest does really and truly forgive the sins in virtue of the power given to him by Christ."1

The papacy also claims that the pope is equal with God. Pope Leo XIII said, "We [the popes] hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty."2 Here is another startling statement about the pope: "Thou art another God on earth."3

1Joseph Deharbe, S.J., A Complete Catechism of the Catholic Religion (New York: Schwartz, Kirwin & Fauss, 1924), p. 279.

2Christopher Marcellus, Oration in the Fifth Lateran Council, Session IV (1512), manuscript SC, Vol. 32, col. 761 (Latin).

3Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Letter "The Reunion of Christendom," dated June 20, 1894, trans. in The Great Encyclical letters of Pope Leo XIII (New York: Benziger, 1903), p. 304.

No one can actually change God's law, they only 'think' they were doing it. The converts catechism Doctrine pg. 50 tells us this"Question: which day is the Sabbath day?" Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath Day. Question: why do we observe sunday? Answer: because the church changed the day from Saturday to sunday.: There has been NO command from Jesus, the desciples, or in the Bible to keep any other day but the 7th Day Sabbath of Jesus. the RCC church however, has declared it is above the Bible and has established her own mark of authority and allegiance-a counterfeit Sabbath. "Of course, the Catholic church claims that the change was her act. And that act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters." James Cardinal Gibbons.

Another statement: Sunday is our mark of authority...the church is above the Bible, and this transferrence of the Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.: Catholic Record, London Ontario, Sept. 1, 1923. On May 31, 1998 John Paul II issued an Apostilic Letter called Dies Domini - The Lords Day. Section 67 says "Christians will naturally strive to ensure civil legislation respects their duty to keep sunday holy.

this is ALL verifiable and is fact Dear heart, so before you attempt to smear, slander and ridicule, perhaps one should make sure their own back yard can withstand reproach, just a suggestion:-)

I've got some bad news for you: Every Bible is the result of editing. Some edits were done a long time ago to support this or that political claim or pet doctrine and became canon. No small number of passages in the modern Bibles simply do not exist in the oldest versions.

The topping of the cake is that there are no original copies of the Bible anywhere. We have, at best, third generation texts based on tales from a primarily oral tradition, and none of those books were written within the lifetime of the events they describe.

Mormon's use the King James Version of the Bible. But though the text is the same as any Other KJT we publish our own with foot notes, cross reference a topical Guide and a Bible Dictionary. The Joseph Smith Translation is an inspired KJT in other word He did make some important changes to make it better understood.

Seventh-day Adventists do not have a specific bible edited for their beliefs. They commonly use the King James Version, New King James Version and the New International Version. The Clear word bible was a work produced independently of the Adventist church by a church member. It is neither sanctioned nor officially endorsed by the church. The writings of Ellen White are not considered scripture. Adventist beliefs can be backed up completely using only the Bible.

there is no actual bible that is determined official. Even the catholic church and many others use the king james version. ie --version. Interest is that JW's use the name of God Jehovah ie-- Yahweh. while most of the rest have removed Gods name from Hebrew and Greek scriptures. Jw's are attempting is to restore what first Century christians were doing and apply in our day and time.

Here are a few texts to COMPARE in a few Translations.

1 John 5:7-8 (Good News Translation)

7 There are three witnesses:8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and all three give the same testimony.

1 John 5:7-8 (King James Version)

7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

1 John 5:7-8 (New International Version, ©2011)

7 For there are three that testify: 8 the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

Footnotes:

a. 1 John 5:8 Late manuscripts of the Vulgate testify in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. And there are three that testify on earth: the (not found in any Greek manuscript before the fourteenth century)

1 John 5:7-8 (New Living Translation)

7 So we have these three witnesses[a]—8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree.

Footnotes:

a. 1 John 5:7 A few very late manuscripts add in heaven—the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. And we have three witnesses on earth.

Revelation 1:11 (Good News Translation)

11 It said,

Write down what you see, and send the book to the churches in these seven cities: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

Revelation 1:11 (King James Version)

11Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Revelation 1:11 (American Standard Version)

11 saying, What thou seest, write in a book and send it to the seven churches: unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamum, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

1 Timothy 3:16 (New Living Translation)

16 Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith[a]:

Christ[b] was revealed in a human body

and vindicated by the Spirit.[c]

He was seen by angels

and announced to the nations.

He was believed in throughout the world

and taken to heaven in glory.

Footnotes:

a. 1 Timothy 3:16 Or of godliness.

b. 1 Timothy 3:16 Greek He who; other manuscripts read God.

c. 1 Timothy 3:16 Or in his spirit.

Compare the NWT at the link below, and you will see that it is indeed perhaps the MOST accurate

of Translations.

The Mormons wrote their own books. The JWs rewrote the Bible. The SDAs ignore most of the Bible. That is the problem.

Yes, it's true.

Joseph Smith translation = mormons

New world translation = SDA

The whole Bible is a book that serves a purpose for each Church brand...

Some honest Bible writers love to expose the Clergy and the Preachers.

Jer 6:13

From the least to the greatest, ALL ARE GREEDY FOR GAIN; prophets and priests alike, ALL practice DECEIT*

(*it takes one to know them ALL)

==

The Bible/Quran stories are used as a power tool for the Clergy preying on the religious members of our society.

Mal 3:9-10

You are under a CURSE—the whole nation of you*

(*all JEWS, all Israel)

because you are robbing me* (*GOD). Bring the whole TITHE*

(*10% of all income)

into the STOREHOUSE*

(*Temple Treasury)

that there may be FOOD* (*$$$) in my house*

(*or God and the Clergy will starve to death, and Christianity will die).

==

4,000 Bible years after the “Creation” of this humongous universe, God the Son Jesus Christ comes to Earth as King of the Jews and Savior of the World, but even before JUDGMENT DAY he is sending all the CURSED JEWS to Hell, along with the vast majority of the human race that never heard about him.

Mat 25:41

(Jesus is shouting at the Jews that he came to save, and to be their king) depart from me, YE CURSED*

(*Jesus is telling Christians that the Jews are cursed!)

into everlasting fire*

(*not just into a hole in the ground like the JW elders claim)

prepared for the devil and his angels*

(*God had in mind creating Hell not only for the Devil, but also to torment the cursed non-tithing Jews for ever and ever for zillions of years!)

==

That’s their KARMA. They wrote the Bible.

Saint Peter, the 1st Pope assisted God the Holy Ghost in the killing of moron Christians as he was establishing the TITHING routine strictly in CASH, God doesn’t go for animal sacrifices any more.

Act 5:1-11

…“Then the young men*

(*members of Youth for Christ)

came in and, finding her dead*

(*at Saint Peter’s Holy Feet for failure to pay the full money to the Church)

carried her out*

(*to the Church’s graveyard)

and buried her beside her husband!*

(*without a funeral service, and without telling any of their kids at home!)

great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events*

(*the real MAFIA is known to give a few fair warnings before they cut anybody down, not so God the Holy Ghost!)

2 Cor 9:7

…God loves a cheerful giver*

(*but he hates moron Christians not paying their dues to Church on time, and as promised)

==

Here is an honest dare for serious minded Christians…

They should deposit their TITHING money in a bank account LIKE JESUS SAYS.

it is a DARING TEST OF FAITH that a Christian can use until God clears any doubt to their full satisfaction.

2 Cor 13:5

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; TEST YOURSELVES. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you FAIL THE TEST?*

(*this teaser should be taken seriously!)

Luk 19:23

(Jesus says) Why then didn't you put my money on deposit*

(*in a COMMERCIAL BANK ACCOUNT)

so that when I came back*

(*on his second coming)

I could have collected it with interest?*

(*God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Ghost are far more interested in MONEY ISSUES than, e.g. feeding the starving Muslims in Somalia)

==

Real Christians would never put their FAITH IN GOD to the test; they expect a much greater reward in “Heaven” if they don’t (John20:29). It shows how smart the Bible writers were.

Mar 14:7

(Jesus said) For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good*

(*God and the Clergy come first! Helping the poor is optional, and NEVER a priority)

but me ye have not always*

(*Jesus is a brazen narcissist, he loves to be loved)

==

When Jesus Christ said, “Lo, I am with you ALWAYS, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Mat 28:20) He was BULL CRAPPING!

Jesus Christ is WATCHING how much money, and in what ratio people give to God!

The story of not letting your left hand know what your w@nking right hand is doing is a “spiritual” teaser of a different sort!

Jesus says not to “blow the horn” every time you give any money; if it is an impressive amount, let Jesus and the Clergy do it for you, as you keep on giving (Mat 6:2-3)!

Mar 12:42-43

And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites*

(*bits of money)

which make a farting. And he* (*Jesus) called unto him his disciples*

(*to tell them that he knows how much money people drop in the offering plate!)

and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you*

(*this time he really ain’t bull crapping any more!)

That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all*

(*Jesus knows everybody’s income versus Church giving)

they which have cast into the TREASURY*

(*Jesus is pleased to call it “treasury” )
